MSAT Scientist-Process Development


Purpose of Job

The purpose of the job is to provide technical execution of development projects and support the manufacturing personnel in troubleshooting in key areas of the MeiraGTx Gene Therapy business.

Major Activities

  • This position will hold responsibility to identify and champion implementation and harmonization of technical programs/projects related to developing and improving bioprocessing methods, laboratory operations, and new technologies
  • Identify and test opportunities to simplify our business processes and tools
  • Drive innovation and challenge conventional assumptions to ensure MeiraGTx stays on the leading edge of manufacturing science and technology
  • Develop and implement new technologies/projects which enhance our manufacturing operations in both laboratory and commercial process activities (i.e. maximize success rates, reduce recurring discrepancies, increase capacity/productivity, increase levels of safety and/or compliance)
  • Champion the development and the validation of an AAV downstream purification platform in close collaboration with Upstream process development and Analytical departments.
  • Support the development of the emerging MSAT wet lab facility

Additional Activities

  • Tech transfer of process improvements to GMP core
  • Ambassador/speaker for MeiraGTx at key Cell and Gene Therapy conferences

Job background

  • PhD degree in biochemistry or biology or equivalent and 2 years of biotech industry experience in process development, process scale up, or manufacturing; or
  • MS degree in biochemistry or biology or equivalent and 4 years of biotech industry experience in process development, process scale up, or manufacturing; or
  • BS degree in in biochemistry or biology or equivalent and 6 years of biotech industry experience in process development, process scale up, or manufacturing
